What Are Copper Branch Fittings?

Copper branch fittings connect a main tube route to one or more branch paths in a refrigeration assembly. The drawing defines port sizes, branch angle, position and end geometry; the fitting shape alone does not establish refrigerant distribution performance or system compatibility.

At Yijin, we review the junction as part of the equipment layout. A branch may need to clear another component, align with a fixed connection or leave space for a joining tool. These installation requirements are easier to control when the drawing identifies each port, a common datum and the critical branch coordinates. We clarify the supplied configuration before planning samples.

Types of Copper Branch Fittings

The following configurations describe drawing-based options for copper branch fittings. Material, tooling, connection details and inspection requirements are reviewed before confirming the supplied part.

Copper Branch Fittings

Three-Port Branch Connections

A main tube route and a branch create a junction within the circuit. Define every port size, tube section and end profile, together with the branch location. The equipment design establishes the intended flow arrangement and performance requirements.

Unequal-Port Branch Fittings

Different connection sizes can be reviewed where the circuit layout requires unequal ports. Label each interface and specify its mating dimensions, insertion length and orientation. We confirm the proposed supply scope against the drawing before sample planning.

Angled & Offset Branch Routes

An angled or offset route may help the branch reach its mating connection within the available space. Show the branch projection, clocking and critical clearances from a common datum so location and direction can be checked independently.

Custom Routed Branch Assemblies

For more complex tubing with branches and multiple bends, identify every joint and additional component in the drawing or bill of materials. The manufacturing scope, assembly steps and inspection plan are agreed for the complete supplied configuration.

Copper Branch Fitting Manufacturing & Processing

Yijin reviews the material specification, component geometry and connection interfaces before planning production. The agreed process covers tube forming, cutting and end processing; junction scope agreed. The manufacturing scope follows the approved drawing and any agreed sample requirements.

Component Forming & Cutting

Forming and cutting operations are planned around the specified run, branch and connection geometry. Each port is identified on the drawing so its location and mating dimensions can be checked against the same reference. Tooling and any additional assembly operations are confirmed during technical review.

End Forming & Connection Preparation

Connection ends are prepared to the dimensions and profiles agreed for the component. Specify mating tube dimensions, insertion length, end orientation and joining requirements. End fit and surface condition are reviewed before sample approval so the component can be checked in its intended assembly.

Cleaning, Handling & Packing

Visual and cleanliness requirements are agreed with the purchase specification. Parts are checked for burrs, visible surface damage and deformation. Packing should protect the tube route, projecting branches and connection ends during handling and transport; identification and separation requirements can be included in the order.

Heat Exchangers

Suitable configurations can be reviewed for copper branch connections in heat exchanger circuits. The junction shape does not by itself establish an equal flow split or calibrated distribution. The equipment designer establishes compatibility and operating limits.

Heat Pump Systems

For heat pump equipment, we review the proposed copper branch fittings against the tube layout, mating interfaces and installation space. Include service conditions, support locations and the intended joining process in the inquiry. Branded VRF or VRV compatibility requires an approved equipment specification and cannot be established from shape or nominal size alone.

Custom Copper Branch Fittings for OEM Projects

Yijin supports OEM customers developing copper branch fittings with drawing-specific dimensions, connection ends and installation requirements. We review the part and its mating assembly before confirming sample and repeat-production arrangements.

Geometry & Critical Dimensions

Specify port sizes, branch coordinates, branch angle, clocking and installation envelope. Identify the dimensions that control assembly fit, distinguish them from reference dimensions and show the datum system used for inspection. A fixture or mating-fit check can be agreed where it improves sample approval.

Copper Grade & Tube Condition

State the exact material designation, governing standard, delivery condition and required documentation. TP2 or C12200 requirements can be reviewed to the specified standard; designations from different standards are not assumed to be interchangeable.

Connection & Assembly Interfaces

Show the orientation needed in the equipment and identify clearances for joining, support and service access. Include the flow direction and circuit function where they affect the required design. The equipment engineer defines the distribution and performance criteria.

Samples, Packaging & Repeat Orders

Separate sample demand from recurring batch quantity. Agree the drawing revision, supplied scope, critical inspections and packing requirements with the quotation. Keep the approved sample record and any accepted deviations linked to repeat orders, and identify changes to mating parts or the joining process.

Quality Control & Inspection

Inspection focuses on the characteristics that affect component fit, joining and handling. The approved drawing, sampling plan and agreed acceptance criteria define the checks and records required for each order.

Inspection StageWhat We Review
Port interfacesInspect each specified end diameter, connection feature and insertion length against the port identifiers on the drawing.
Branch locationCheck angle, projection, clocking and port coordinates from the approved datum system; agree a fixture where useful.
Junction conditionDefine visual acceptance and cleanliness requirements for all internal flow paths and connection ends.
Project validationAgree required leak, pressure or other performance testing, and distinguish component testing from equipment-level validation.

Inspect the sample in its intended mating assembly as well as an individual component. Additional testing and document requirements are confirmed before production, including the method, conditions and acceptance limits.

Copper Branch Fittings FAQs

Can Yijin manufacture a branch fitting from our own design?

We review drawing-based branch fitting projects with your engineering team. Send the port sizes, tube sections, branch positions and angles, end forms and critical datums. Identify any joints or additional components in the supply scope so material, tooling and inspection can be considered in the quotation.

Are these fittings direct replacements for branded VRF or VRV branch kits?

We do not assign branded equipment compatibility from shape or nominal port size. A replacement must follow the equipment maker’s design and approval requirements, including circuit performance and installation details. Provide the approved component specification if your project requires a particular equipment interface or validated replacement design.

Does a Y-shaped branch guarantee an equal refrigerant split?

No. Junction geometry alone does not establish how refrigerant will distribute in a complete system. Flow conditions, circuit layout and equipment requirements must be evaluated by the responsible engineer. We review the component dimensions and any agreed performance-validation criteria as part of the drawing-based supply requirement.

Can branch angle and connection sizes be different?

Send the required geometry and identify each connection separately. We review branch angle, projection, tube section and end fit together with the proposed manufacturing scope. Unequal ends and orientation requirements should be dimensioned explicitly, with critical tolerances and a clear approval method before production.

Which inspection records are useful for branch fittings?

A useful inspection brief identifies the drawing revision, port dimensions, branch angle, location and orientation, together with the checking method. Request material or test records when required by your purchase specification. We agree the sampling and document scope before production so the deliverables match the component acceptance criteria.

How should branch fittings be packed and stored?

Protect projecting branches and connection ends against bending, impact and contamination. Agree separation, identification and packing quantity for the shipment. At receipt, check the batch reference and visible condition before assembly. Keep the approved drawing and sample record available when investigating any fit or handling issue.
